It was a good book. The essays dwindle, some of them, after the Marion Zimmer Bradley essay at which point I decided to review the book. There are still best ones among those good ones and one that kind of plods. One of the most interesting and useful to me is one that argues that Tolkien is not literary, properly speaking. The burden of the essay is to demonstrate this, and it is done well. Gives one no lesser appreciation for Tolkien, but a more accurate, I think. It is a good one. By Burton Raffel.
